I’m Sorry I’ve Been Gone So Long

Aggrrhh!! Okay, so basically I have been reading absolutely loads of books in the month that I have been absent but I’ve also been mega busy so I haven’t actually had the time to sit down and think about all the words that have been flying into my head. I’m literally updating this after my shift at work just so that I can let you guys know that I am still in existence 😉 and that I will be back shortly (fingers crossed). When I do start uploading again, I’m hoping it will be regularly and not sporadic as it has been recently. I have plans to write sit down and my reviews in one go and post them at different times so that I always have something up to date on my blog (and not just random updates). I already have plans for September but they are the type that will allow me to take some time to write out several reviews at once and fingers crossed read some of the books I’m waiting on to be released in August. I already have some books lined up to read but I’m unfortunately in one of those ruts that mean I can’t force myself to sit down read them (mainly because they aren’t what I’m in the mood for).  So I hope you don’t mind my random updates and stuff, I just felt the need to let you know that I was still here; just on an involuntary hiatus (somehow I think I used that wrong but its late and I’m tired so forgive me).

Peace out bitches!

Player – Aubrey Irons

Player – Aubrey Irons

It’s been a while but, I’m back with a new review! This one is actually a recent read of mine (only a few days old), and I would just like to say that, in my opinion Irons can write a damn good sex scene. However the actual plot of ‘Player’ is one I have come across a million times before (that’s not to say I didn’t enjoy it), it reminded me of ‘Baller – Vi Keeland’ and also ‘Bad Boy’s Baby – Sosie Frost’, which I must say are almost identical in story line (I’ll do a comparison of the later).

When I picked up ‘Player’ I didn’t expect much from it, seen as I’d pretty much guessed the story already but, I did find myself enjoying it. Perhaps I was just in the right mood/state of mind? Anyway the cliché story just did it for me. I found the Hero (Austin) amusing but a dick all the same and the heroine (Natalie) was interesting to say the least. Honestly, I found the h to kind of annoying at times; I understood her reasons for certain things and some of her actions but at times I just wanted to shake a bitch, then later the h goes off and fucks shit up again (which we expected, right?). We get the typical moment when the H comes to the rescue and then everything is hunky-dory and that’s where it ends. But I’m getting ahead of myself, so lets go back to the beginning.

When we first meet the h she doesn’t seem like all that much however, we see her personality grow as the books goes on (still not happy with her mother) but, I have to say that I still think she was inherently lacking something that would have made me get attached to her. The H however, was easy to like and not at all annoying, he seemed to develop a hell of a lot more than the h and I enjoyed reading his POV. Another problem for me was how the h dealt with her mother (the bitch that she was, although we see a slight change towards the end), in my opinion I think she should have had a blow out with her mother but, that s neither here nor there. We also meet the sister of the h who is actually quite likeable and seems to have a ‘stronger’ personality than the h.

The sex scenes held the passion I have come to expect from Irons and I didn’t find myself skipping over them as sometimes happens with them as if an author isn’t careful they often become repetitive and dull.  As much as it looks live I have pulled ‘Player’ apart I did actually enjoy it, it won’t be one of the books I go back and read when the mood strikes but it is enjoyable and I didn’t find it hard to get through.

Motherfucking Update

Alright, so I’m gonna say that you guys maybe aren’t interested in the random updates I post but idgaf so I’m a post them anyway! It’s only a short one this time; I’ve done my initial read over of a.e.fisher’s next novel and now we’re getting it ready to be sent off to be published. Which is good news!

The bad news update would have to be that my search for my next job is going shit. Honestly it’s soul crushing looking for a new better job and not having any luck. Also I’ve been dragged into waiting at a workshop all day for a delivery…guess it’s good that I don’t have a life then.

Killing Stalking…

Killing Stalking
Okay, so I guess I’m changing it up a little by reviewing this but here we go!

So I’ve seen this manga pop up all overy my social media for a long ass time now and my best friend has evenot bugged me to read it. So I did. Now if you’ve got a weak stomach and perhaps are sensitive I wouldn’t recommend this to you. This thriller is twisted in so many wayears that I have officially lost count; it’seems one of those times that you think to yourself what the fuck am I reading and yourself etc you can’t make yourself put it down. I can honestly say that I don’t regret reading this and I’m now waiting rather impatiently for the next season to be released.

Many people have said the exact same thing about it; I wanted to put it down and just be done with it the but I just couldn’t make myself stop reading! I would have to agree with this because I read the whole thing in one sitting without any breaks.

Now I’m not an avid manga reader however I have read enough to say that I can spot a good one (subject to your opinion) when I see it and this was one of thone times. I do believe that this will be a love it to or hate it to kinda thing (think marmite) and I guess we’Lloyd just have to see where it goes. I’ll keep you guys updated as much as I can!

Peace out bitches!

I did it again….

Okay so I sort of it did it again guys! I got caught up in the goings on of life and forgot to update my blog. Then when I did try to post to here it wouldn’t work, so here I am attempting to write another motherfu*king apology post. Anyway I’ll give you a general update; I now have a tablet to post from so I can write postsomething where ever I go and upload them as soon as I have Internet access (tbf having unlimited WiFi like a certain hunter *talkin bout you Mr Winchester* would be greatly appreciated). I do need to go and pick up some more storage for it though because it doesn’t have as much as I would possibly like. Oh! Another small piece of perhaps interesting information; I’ll see beach proofreading A.E. Fisher’s next book so keep an eye out for short sneak peak verdict.

Well that’s my short update complete and I’ll see you guys soon!

Peace out bitches!

Take Me Home – Lorelie Brown

Take Me Home – Lorelie Brown

This was another one of those times when I ended up with my head in my hands asking myself; why? Just why? Honestly this book had so much potential and yet I feel like Brown decided to skip all the good bits that make the reader attached to the characters and their relationship and go straight to them being a couple and the climax hitting and then leaving you feeling let down and quite sad really.  I thought I had found a gem when I found ‘Take me home’ however it was again just a piece of shiny twisted metal. I was infinitely disappointed in the lack of development of the two heroines; however, I was happy that this wasn’t lesbian porn hidden under the guise of a lesbian romance. Although classified as romance it was severely lacking and there didn’t seem to be that ‘spark’ that leads the reader into being invested in the characters; I found myself almost not caring if they even ended up together. The most enjoyment I got from ‘Take me home’ was the interaction between the family at the start of the novel which provoked quite a few laughs from me and reminded me of some aspects of my own family life. Would I recommend this book? Eh, probably not but I also wouldn’t blame someone for actually enjoying the book.

Scars and Tats – Kristi Pelton

Scars and Tats – Kristi Pelton

Scars and Tats, what can I say about this? Well I’m about to give you my honest opinion and you can do with it, whatever you please. This book shouldn’t have been published, ever. I can honestly say it was one the worst books I’ve had the misfortune to come across. It lacked depth at crucial points leaving me feeling like I was reading a summary of the events rather than reading an actual story. The plot had so much potential but Pelton just didn’t manage to pull it off and the ‘reason’ for the climax of the novel was shitty at best and non-existent at worst. The start of the novel gave the impression that I was in for a good read, that I’d finally manged to dig deep enough in the pile of shite that is out there to find a good novel but, no.  I was greatly disappointed with Pelton’s efforts and unfortunately as a first-time reader of hers (I have no idea if this is her first novel, nor do I care), I will not be returning to read anything else she may produce. Perhaps she is better off giving her ideas to someone else to write rather than doing it herself either that or she is very much living in an illusion. This review was a lot harsher than my others however, I didn’t have anything good to say and I didn’t want anyone else to waste money on a book not worth it; also should you read the reviews on Goodreads many people have rated it 3.5 so take everything you read with a grain of salt even my stuff!).

Peace out bitches!

Just an update

Hey guys!

Sorry its been a while since I uploaded a review but I just found myself in a rut with a few books so I took some time to power through; anyway I’m back now and will have my latest review posted within 24 hours of this post going live! The reason I decided not to spend my day doing reviews is because today (valentines day) is my birthday; now its not one of the important ones just my 19th but I honestly just didn’t feel like doing anything. I’m working tonight so I’ll probably spend the morning doing the review and then upload it in the afternoon.

Just thought I’d update my bitches on what’s what and why I haven’t been around (not like any of you actually give a fuck). I don’t really have much to say other than that but I’ll see you guys tomorrow!

Peace out bitches!

Hyde and Seek – Layla Frost

Hyde and Seek – Layla Frost

Now this one was an interesting read because it perfectly combined romantic comedy with the serious drama that almost always takes place in contemporary romance. What drew me to the book in the beginning was the light heartedness of that was described in the blurb; when I finally read Frost’s book (I had it on my list a long ass time) I powered through it in one sitting and found myself desperate for more! Somehow Frost had managed to mix the alpha male persona from typical MC romance and yet keep Jake (the hero) away from the stereotypes that revolve around MC men. A huge draw that makes me pick up books is a feisty heroine (which Piper certainly was) that won’t be pushed around and Frost perfectly presents us with a woman like this in Hyde and Seek.

The plot line was interesting because it was hard to put your finger on who the villain was throughout the book (which is a good thing because I can normally guess pretty quickly), and when we do finally find out who was behind all the issues it’s kind of a shock because Frost manages to down play this person so much so that you expect them to get their own book in the series! Shocking I know.

The sex…I fell that all I need to say is…niiiicceee (with a sly smirk and some head nodding). Like I have said in my reviews before I love it when I can see the authors passion shine through; Frost certainly shows her passion with steamy sex scenes forcing the reader to learn to reader with the book in their opposite hand. I don’t have all that much to say on the topic of hot sex in terms of Hyde and Seek other than if you like your sexy times as hard as I do maybe this is on the softer side? Although it is by no means soft. I like my sex hotter than hot and my wrist to be hurting by the time I’ve finished.

The only complaint I actually have about the book isn’t really a complaint at all more like a comment, maybe? So, my comment is; when we meet the band in the book I didn’t think it was necessary however, I did find the interaction extremely interesting and it did bring back more light heartedness to the story; but it still kind of felt like filler to me. Although now I feel bad because I just realised why this all seems a little familiar to me…Kristen Ashley. Yep sorry Frost but your work (as awesome as it is) just reminds me of Ashley’s so much so that I honestly thought I’d gone a bit mad and confused the authors however, on a positive note I love Ashley’s style of writing so to its a plus that you (maybe? Possibly?) took pointers from her. Anyway, I do think that Hyde and Seek was well worth the read, so much so that I have actually read the second in the series (yes I will be reviewing that as well).

Peace out bitches!
